Historic Albany Theatre in 1927
(Larger View)

Historic Albany Theatre, once Southwest Georgia's premier performing arts center, is being restored to its original architectural state to again be Georgia's largest Broadway performing arts center outside Atlanta. Oglethorpe Development Group, Inc. (ODG, Inc.), an Albany, Georgia based private developer, assisted by its non-profit tax-exempt fundraising arm, Friends of the Albany Theatre, is restoring this magnificent theatre to the end that it will be a venue for local, regional, national and international events. Plans for this arts center include an office/retail mix atrium that includes a fine dining restaurant, executive offices and media conference space. This massive undertaking, considered to be "a key part of the puzzle for...downtown [Albany] redevelopment", will provide high quality art experiences to the Southwest Georgia community.
